UMTS & HSPA (WCDMA Rel 7 )
This 3 (or 4) day course provides a practical look at many of the key features and operational aspects of a High Speed Link Packet Access (HSPA) System. The course begins with an overview of WCDMA technology and the contrasting elements and unique techniques associated with HSPA operation. Next, the student is provided with an overall 3G Market update with comparisons of competitive and complementary technologies. It then continues with more detailed descriptions of the Physical Layer with regards to both the Up and Down links including Multi- OVSF, AMC, Incremental Redundancy and H-ARQ. Then RLC and RRC Layer functions and enhancements are described, including Power Control, Data Rate Control and Scheduling. Call processing is discussed in detail and the associated SIB's are listed and described. The course concludes with a glimpse at what lies ahead in UMTS Rel 8.
