WiMAX Overview
This seminar offers an expansive summary of both the business and technical aspects of the WiMAX system, thereby enabling attendees to better understand the basic features, capabilities and limitations of this new technology and how it might impact the future of wireless communications. Ever mindful of market realities, this seminar intends to distill thousands of pages of IEEE 802.16, IETF, WiMAX Forum standards and documents into clear explanations of key attributes and procedures of the WiMAX system. Examples of current and future WiMAX applications, including broadband wireless access (BWA), backhaul networks, and nomadic / mobile systems are discussed. Special emphasis will be placed on the mobility aspects of WiMAX found in IEEE 802.16e such as; Modulation, Scalable OFDMA, QoS Scheduling, Handover, Power save, Link Adaptation techniques, Advanced Antenna Systems & MIMO. Relevant comparisons of WiMAX vs. 802.11 (Wi-Fi) and 3G cellular technologies are Interspersed throughout this seminar.
